Do Small Things With Great Love
Mother Teresa once said, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
Whether it’s a homemade meal, a handwritten note, or a thoughtfully gathered tray of goodies for the kitchen and home, love is often found in the little things.
Today, I had the joy of sharing Greek yogurt parfaits at a Mother’s Day brunch. I decided to create a self-serve, build-your-own parfait bar, and while the setup itself was simple, it was the small thoughtful details that made it feel elevated, warm, and welcoming.
To make serving easier, I pre-portioned the Greek yogurt into individual parfait cups ahead of time, measuring about 100g per person and covering each with lids. I lightly sweetened the plain yogurt with vanilla and a touch of agave for a fresh and balanced flavor.
On the side, I served Living Full Company Apple Spice Granola and Strawberry Orange Granola so guests could sprinkle their toppings fresh without the granola becoming soggy. Fresh strawberries, dark berries, raw honey, and my personal favorite — Triple Berry Lavender Jam — added bright color and flavor to the parfait bar.
As I stepped back to finish the display, I added a few simple touches: wooden risers, a kitchen towel, a serving tray, a small faux plant, and a custom sign sharing the toppings and granola flavors being served. It may sound like a lot of little details, but those thoughtful touches helped create an experience that felt inviting and special.
One of my favorite moments was watching mothers and daughters gather around the parfait bar together — helping each other, talking, laughing, and excitedly creating their own parfait combinations. It reminded me that gathering around food creates connection in such a meaningful way.
Simple ingredients. Small touches. Made with great love.
